Global mobility

Global mobility is a 21st century reality. However, from a legal perspective, the very concept is a challenge. It is an area where the lack of global rules becomes extremely visible and where company practices often clash with legislation.

The workforce is global, yet the governing rules are local. But there is no going back, and with millennials already making up the majority of nearly any company’s staff, making mobility possible is an important retention factor.

If you wish to hire someone living in Finland or if you want to post somebody here – get in touch with me and I will tell you what you need to know. You will in any case be faced with mandatory Finnish employment, social security, tax, and – possibly – immigration laws. Trust me, it is way better to find out about the legal rules before you run into problems – especially when taxes and social security are concerned.

Legal assistance for executives

While I mostly advise companies, I am happy to help individuals under certain circumstances as well – typically, CEOs or other executives in contract negotiations or in exit/settlement scenarios. Sometimes it is a corporate client who asks for assistance if a newly recruited key individual faces difficulties with their former employer, for example – usually on post-employment restrictive covenants or trade secret issues.

Employment law is mandatory law. No matter if you are planning to recruit your first employee in Finland or if have several hundred people here, you need to be up-to-date and know what you can and can’t do.

I have given many seminars and webinars on a variety of employment related topics throughout my career and I am also happy to tailor training for you – whether it’s half an hour on the basics of Finnish employment law or a whole day with more comprehensive information and real-life examples to highlight what really matters.

Entering the Finnish market

Do you wish to expand your business into Finland? Then you will have to take a few things into account. I have assisted many companies in establishing subsidiaries in Finland over the years, which is a fairly straightforward and inexpensive process. And, by the way, there is no need to register a Finnish entity in the first place if you just want to do business here.
